Blasch Precision Ceramics: Recrystallized SiC Kiln Furniture

Kiln operators can help hold the line against rising energy costs by switching to high-performance recrystallized silicon carbide (ReSiC) kiln furniture from Blasch Precision Ceramics. ReSiC offers a number of advantages over cordierite, a material commonly used in kiln furniture. For example, ReSiC can be operated up to 2900ºF, while cordierite can only go to roughly 2350ºF. At operating temperature, ReSiC has a modulus of rupture of 16,000-18,000 psi, while cordierite has a modulus of rupture of 1450-2900 psi. ReSiC is stronger and has more weight bearing capacity, so the kiln furniture can be smaller, which frees space inside the kiln for more manufactured product per firing. ReSiC is also lighter weight, which is easier to handle. Additional benefits include greater thermal conductivity and excellent thermal shock resistance.
